A Civil Defence Force (APM) officer has died after being bitten by a king cobra while conducting a snake handling demonstration in Temerloh, Pahang.
The victim, 39-year-old Muhamad Muazam Shah Kamardin, was bitten during a demonstration at Dewan Taman Temerloh Jaya on Saturday (Aug 22).

According to Sin Chew Daily, he was rushed to Hospital Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah (HoSHAS) for treatment but died at 1.50 am on Sunday (Aug 23).

Pahang APM director Colonel (PA) Che Adam A Rahman said the incident happened at around 10.50 am.
Temerloh APM had been invited to participate in the Jelajah Agenda Nasional Malaysia Sihat programme, where officers conducted a demonstration on handling snakes safely.

During the demonstration, Muhamad Muazam was bitten by a king cobra on the nail area of his right middle finger.
He then left the hall to wash his hand but suddenly collapsed outside the building.
Personnel at the scene immediately rushed him to the emergency department at HoSHAS, where he was placed in the Red Zone and closely monitored by doctors.
However, his condition later deteriorated and he was pronounced dead at 1.50am.
Served with Temerloh APM
According to FMT, Muhamad Muazam served as a Sergeant with the Temerloh Civil Defence Force.
he was unmarried and is understood to have left behind an elder sister.
The official APM directory also lists Che Adam as the current director of Pahang APM and confirms the Temerloh district office operates under the state division.
Laid to rest in Temerloh
Che Adam said Muhamad Muazam’s remains would be taken to Masjid Kampung Bukit Kelulut for funeral prayers.
He would then be laid to rest at the Kampung Bukit Kelulut Muslim Cemetery in Temerloh.
The burial was held on Sunday morning.
