A man was allegedly killed by a thief whom he caught stealing from a palm oil plantation in Sitiawan, Perak yesterday (June 24).
The victim was identified as 38-year-old Wu Huixiang, whose body was found abandoned in the plantation.

Never came back after work
Huixiang’s body was found at around 5pm by villagers who went looking for him in the plantation. When they finally did, they found him lying face up along with six to seven stab wounds to his face, chest, and arms.
Speaking to Sin Chew Daily, Wu’s older brother Wu Huitai said the wound that most likely caused his death was a deep cut to the neck.
As for the events that took place before the murder, Huitai said his brother went alone on his motorbike to the plantation to collect some palm oil fruit at around 6pm after the rain had stopped.
“My brother usually works alone and returns home around 7pm but he didn’t do so yesterday. Family members tried calling him on his phone but he never answered.

“When he was finally found, he had already died. However, his belongings, identification documents, and work tools were still with him at the scene so we don’t think it’s a robbery,” he said.
Villagers believe thief killed the victim
Meanwhile, several villagers told Sin Chew Daily that freshly cut palm oil fruit were found at the crime scene, leading them to speculate that Huixiang had crossed paths with a thief who was in the midst of cutting the fruit and getting away with it, which resulted in his death.
They also revealed that Huixiang had a blunt personality who would directly scold those whom he caught doing unlawful things. As such, they believe that he gave the thief a scolding at the plantation, leading the latter to kill him.

However, they admitted that this was all pure speculation and said the truth will be revealed once police complete their investigations.
Our condolences to the victim’s family and we hope police will bring the killer/thief to justice soon!
