GURUN – An elderly lady was slashed to death by her son at Kampung Jeniang. The incident occurred around 6.30 in the morning.
Sarah Jon, the 70-year-old victim was reported to have been hacked on her neck with a blunt knife by her 31-year-old son.
It has been suspected that the crime happened after a verbal dispute between mother and son.
Kuala Muda Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Adzli Abu Shah told Kosmo that the victim was found lying in a bed of blood with a 12.7cm long gash on her neck.
“Our search found no indication of a break-in, only drugs and drug paraphernalia,” he reported from the crime scene.
Minor injuries were sustained on her right hand and left ear as a result of self-defence.
The suspect was presumably a drug dealer with a record of mental illness. Later investigation revealed that he was involved in a road accident and died on the spot.
The accident happened along Jalan Gurun-Jeniang – a kilometre away from the crime scene at 7.30am.
Reports disclosed that the suspect was ran over by a lorry.
“The suspect was said to have parked his motorcycle by the roadside before rushing to the road. He was then crushed by a lorry, losing several of his bodily parts.”
