‘I Feel Like A Failure’ — 30yo M’sian Woman Rants About Being Single & Living With Parents

"I feel like I haven't achieved anything in life."
Before the start of a new year, we would come up with resolutions and goals that we wish to accomplish. However, the feelings of guilt and helplessness would sometimes overwhelm us when we fail to achieve those goals.

A woman who turned 30 years old recently took to social media to share how “useless” she felt over the fact that she couldn’t achieve certain life goals her sibling and friends had already done.

“In 2025, my friends are achieving so much, and all I can do is watch. I can’t go anywhere because I have to take care of my parents.

I feel like my life has failed. I’m already in my ‘third series’ (30s), but I haven’t achieved anything yet,” she lamented.

Aside from her friends, the woman also added that her own siblings have achieved more in their life than she has.

“My siblings are all busy with their own lives — some are married, some have finished studying, some are working, and others are pursuing further education.

“Me? I just sit and watch while preparing everything they need from meals to clothing,” she wrote.

Given her circumstances, the woman felt that life has been very unfair to her, as seen through her inability to accomplish what her peers and siblings have already done.

She also questioned why she has to be “sidelined” just because she is the youngest child in the family.

“This isn’t fair. I’m not the eldest or the second child, but the youngest daughter. Usually, the youngest daughter gets whatever she wants, but for me, it’s the opposite.”

‘It’s all about perspective’

In the comment section, netizens tried to comfort the woman by encouraging her to look at her present circumstance from a different perspective.

Some told her to regard her living with her parents as a blessing as not everyone has to the opportunity to spend time with their parents.

They also advised her to feel proud of herself over the fact that she was capable of caring for her parents, something which her siblings have yet been able to do.
