A 3-month-old boy had died after he was allegedly beaten to death by his father in Kampung Teluk Jawa, Padang Hang in Kedah, reported The Star.
Kota Setar district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Shukri Mat Akhir said police received a call about the incident at around 1.50pm on Monday (Oct 10).
Abused infant for refusing to drink milk
A team from the Kedah criminal investigation department was later dispatched to the scene, where they arrested the victim’s father in Kampung Sungai Lintang.
The suspect later confessed to slapping and hitting the child in the head and face after he refused to drink milk.
“The victim’s body was later sent to Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah for a post-mortem,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (Oct 12).
Had previous drug records
Free Malaysia Today reported that the suspect had eight past criminal offences, including those related to drugs.
According to Kedah police chief Wan Hassan Wan Ahmad, the suspect was also believed to have been involved in drug abuse for the past two to three years.
He added that the suspect tested positive for methamphetamine and has been remanded until Oct 17 to assist investigations.
