An uncovered manhole led to the untimely demise of a young boy after he fell right into it and subsequently died.
According to a report by Harian Metro, the tragedy occurred along Jalan Pedada in Sibu, Sarawak, yesterday (Aug 4).

A spokesperson from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department’s (JBPM) Operations Centre (PGO) told the Malay daily that an emergency call about the incident at 6.29pm.
When a team from the Sibu Sentral Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) arrived at the scene, they were told by the boy’s father that his two-year-old son had fallen into the manhole.
A search operation was subsequently launched at 6.55pm, which came to a tragic conclusion when the boy’s body was found floating in the sewer at 7pm.
After retrieving the boy’s body, medical officers from the Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed his passing.
The body was later handed over to the police for further action.
