29 Pythons Found Cosying Up Inside Drain Near Restaurant In Shah Alam

With the recent hot weather that’s sweeping certain parts of the country, Malaysians are flocking towards cooler places to hide from the heat. Unfortunately for those who’re afraid of reptiles, so are the creepy-crawlies too.

A group of firefighters were recently alerted to a report of pythons being spotted inside a drain and were astonished to find a total of 29 of them.

The shocking sight was shared by the Shah Alam Fire and Rescue Department in a Facebook post today, where it showed a horde of pythons all nestled inside a drain.

As one can see from the photo, the pythons were clearly very comfortable in the drain but posed a great source a fear to residents nearby.

Speaking to Sinar Harian, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Director of Operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said his team received a call about pythons being spotted near a restaurant at Section 20 in Shah Alam at 9.56pm yesterday (Aug 7).

“Six personnel and officers, along with a fire engine from the Shah Alam Fire and Rescue Station, rushed to the scene.

“Upon arrival, the team found that the pythons were still in the drain before starting the work of removing the reptiles,” he said.

Ahmad Mukhlis said the team used a snare tool and successfully captured all 29 pythons before releasing them to a safe place.

With the current heatwave in full swing, please be alert to your surroundings and be sure to contact the authorities if you find snakes/pythons ‘invading’ your home!
