A young Malaysian emcee, Ada, recently amazed netizens with her ability to switch between multiple languages while hosting an event effortlessly.
In a viral video on XiaoHongShu, Ada was seen fluently explaining the event rundown in Cantonese, transitioning smoothly to English, and concluding her speech in Mandarin—all without missing a beat.

The video, posted last Monday (Jan 6), has garnered over 9,000 likes at press time, with many netizens praising her for her ability to master different languages effortlessly.

Fluent in different languages
Speaking exclusively to WeirdKaya, Ada shared that she began her emceeing career in late 2022 and has since gained more opportunities, especially in the latter half of 2023.
While her primary language is Mandarin, Ada is also fluent in Cantonese and English, with a basic understanding of Hokkien.

I am so glad that I was born in Malaysia and can embrace the multilingualism here, as it provides a significant advantage in reaching diverse audiences.
“Cantonese and English have opened up new markets for me. I’ve been approached to host weddings in these languages to ensure no guest feels left out, regardless of their background.
“As for Hokkien, it’s still a work in progress—I use it sparingly for boosting the event’s atmosphere,” she told WeirdKaya.
Reaction to going viral
When asked about her thoughts on the viral video, Ada said she never expected the clip to gain so much attention.
“I recorded it casually as content. The client that day mentioned that most guests could understand Cantonese, while some needed English and others preferred Mandarin. So, I used all three languages,” she said.
Ada also expressed pride in Malaysia’s multicultural harmony.
“The positive comments I received on Xiaohongshu reflect the beauty of Malaysia—rich in cultural exchange and filled with positive energy.
“Each time I host in multiple languages, I feel proud to represent this unique aspect of our country.”
