Medical sick certificates (MC) are meant to be used when one is not feeling well enough to report for work and needs time to rest and recuperate.
A young woman tried her luck in submitting a false MC but found herself in deep trouble instead after she was caught committing the act.
Produced fake MC
The accused was 24-year-old Noor Farhana Nor Haspilah, who worked as a promoter at a lingerie shop, reported Harian Metro.
She was charged with producing a fake MC at the Magistrate’s Court today and pleaded guilty when it was read out before Magistrate Atiqah Mohamed@Mohamad Saim.
According to the charge sheet, Noor Farhana allegedly submitted a forged MC as a genuine document at a shopping mall located in Cheras on July 25.
The offence was framed under Section 471 of the Penal Code and is punishable under Section 465 of the same Code, where it provides for a jail term of up to to years, a fine, or both.

Noor Farhana’s lawyer, Mohd Zaidi Othman pleaded for a lighter sentence, saying that she had shown remorse for her actions and promised not to do it again.
“She needs to support her 60-year-old mother after her father’s death and has been in custody for a day, possibly losing her job,” he said.
The court then fined Noor Farhana RM700 for her deed and ordered her to be jailed for two weeks if she fails to pay the fine.
