In a heart-wrenching turn of events, Marfuza Arnida Marrudzuki, a 23-year-old Health Science graduate from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), met with a fatal accident on Lebuh Sungai Udang-Paya Rumput-Ayer Keroh (SPA) near the Heavy Vehicle Terminal.
The incident occurred last Thursday, just about 2 weeks before she was set to celebrate her achievements at the upcoming convocation ceremony scheduled for November 25.
Collision at the intersection by Myvi
Marfuza, riding a Yamaha Ego Avantiz motorcycle on her way to work at a fast food restaurant in Ayer Keroh, Melaka collided with the back of a Perodua Myvi at a traffic light intersection around 10:50 am, reported Kosmo.
The impact left her with severe injuries, including bleeding in the stomach.
Despite being rushed to Melaka Hospital and fighting for her life for eight hours, she tragically succumbed to her injuries, confirmed dead at 7:30pm last Thursday.
Under the influence
The Alor Gajah District Police Chief, Superintendent Arshad Abu, revealed that the 24-year-old Myvi driver tested positive for cannabis in a urine test.
The case is currently under investigation in accordance with Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
