21yo M’sian Babysitter Caught On Tape Handling Crying Babies In A Rough Manner, Sparks Outrage Online

She was later arrested and remanded for 4 days.
Babysitters are often sought out by parents who are too busy to take care of their young children, believing that they will be in good hands.

However, a babysitter recently achieved online notoriety after videos of her roughing up two crying babies went viral on social media.

Babysitting caught on tape roughing up crying babies

In a post by Inforoadblock on Facebook, it showed a clip of the babysitter taking care of several babies at a nursery believed to be located in Taman Mutiara Rini, Skudai, Johor.

At the first half of the clip, the babysitter tried to make a baby from crying his lungs out by violently flipping him over as another baby snoozed quietly beside them.

In the second half, it showed the babysitter taking her frustration out on another baby by hitting its head and blowing at its face while yelling at it to quieten down.

Netizens cry foul

Shortly after the clip went viral on social media, netizens expressed outrage over the incident and called for stern action to be taken against the babysitter.

“[This babysitter] is stupid. The police need to arrest her.”

“If you know you have a bad temper and little patience, don’t earn a living at places like this. Go find it elsewhere.”

“This is why the Social Welfare Department (JKM) needs to outline every registered childcare centre (so that) such cases are prevented.”

Babysitter remanded for 4 days

A statement was later released by Johor police chief Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat today, who said the 21-year-old babysitter was arrested by Iskandar Puteri police.

He added that the case is currently being probed under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for exposing a child in a manner likely to cause them physical or emotional injury, where it carries a jail term of up to 10 years, a maximum fine of RM20,000, or both if convicted.

Sinar Harian also reported that the babysitter was brought to the Johor Bahru Magistrates Court and remanded for four days starting Tuesday until Friday to facilitate investigations.
