A mother feels heartbroken and disappointed when her two-year-old child died after allegedly not receiving appropriate treatment due to a doctor’s negligence at a health clinic.
Based on a Facebook post from Erma Iswani, she was extremely upset when her child, Muhammad Umair Muhammad Ridhwan, 2, did not get the appropriate treatment and passed away within just one day.
She said it was inappropriate that her child, who had diarrhea 21 times in one day, was only given three packets of oral rehydration salts when she went to a nearby health clinic on July 12th.
“I also asked whether my child had food poisoning and he (the doctor) said “yes” “maybe”, at that time I was quite worried because his eyes were starting to look sunken and I was a bit disappointed because I was expecting a referral to a hospital or for a blood test but there was none.”
“As soon as I left the clinic, I noticed my child’s feet were reddish and speckled and his eyes were sunken in when I was in the car.”
Went to private clinic later
“I felt unsatisfied and without hesitation, I immediately went to a private clinic to get treatment from another doctor,” she said.
She informed that after being examined and a blood test was taken, the doctor from the private clinic gave a referral letter to the hospital considering the white blood cell count was too high and her child was already unresponsive.
When brought to Bentong Hospital, her child who was already ‘limp’ and unconscious was put to sleep before being sent to the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital (Hoshas) Temerloh and past away at 9:34 am yesterday.
“I deeply regret my mistake by going to the wrong place, thinking of the nearest health clinic and hoping for a quick blood test and referral letter.
“I’m stupid, that’s why I needed a smart person like a doctor to help treat my child, I lost my child’s smile in just one day,” she said.
Meanwhile, the Director of Health of Pahang, Datuk Dr. Nor Azimi Yunus said, they will investigate this case and will take further action.
He said, at this time the cause of death is still under investigation.
Based on initial findings, the two years and six months child with disability (OKU) for Global Development Delay (GDD) started receiving treatment at a health clinic on July 12th after having diarrhea.
While most netizens said offered their condolences , some netizens said she should report the case to the authorities.
