2 M’sian Women File Fake Police Report Claiming Their Phones Were Robbed To Hide Makeup Purchase

They actually pawned their phones just to buy makeup.
In a bizarre turn of events, two housewives in Sandakan found themselves in trouble with the law after they fabricated a robbery story to cover up their desperate attempt to buy makeup.

Afraid of facing their husbands’ wrath for pawning their mobile phones, the women resorted to filing a false police report, claiming they were victims of a robbery.

The women, aged 20 and 34, initially told the authorities that they had been ambushed by three men armed with knives in a town area at around 7pm.

According to Berita Harian, they claimed that their phones and a total of RM136 were stolen during the alleged incident.

However, their story quickly fell apart when police began investigating the case.

According to Sandakan District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Abdul Fuad Abdul Malek, the women’s statements were inconsistent and raised doubts.

A thorough investigation revealed that there was no robbery, and instead, the women had pawed their mobile phones at a pawn shop to raise money.

The motive behind their actions became clear as the investigation unfolded.

The women, desperate to purchase cosmetics, feared the consequences of their husbands finding out about the pawned phones.

Rather than coming clean about their financial desperation, they chose to lie, creating a robbery story to cover up their actions.

Abdul Fuad confirmed that both women were arrested and will be investigated under Section 182 of the Penal Code for providing false information to the police.

If convicted, they face a penalty of up to six months in prison, a fine of RM2,000, or both.

The public is advised against taking such actions, as filing false reports wastes police resources and undermines the justice system,” said Abdul Fuad.
