A pair of Form 5 students were killed in a road accident that took place along Jalan Kuala Lumpur-Kuantan near Temerloh last night (Aug 3).
The victims were identified as Muhammad Nazim Dzafran Mohd Faizul and Muhammad Hafizuddin Abdullah, both of whom did not possess a valid driving licence, reported Sin Chew Daily.
Thrown off motorbike
According to Temerloh district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Nasyim Bahron, he said the duo were travelling on a Yamaha LC135 motorcycle from Temerloh towards Chenor in Maran when the crash occurred at 8.20pm.

Along the way, they tried overtaking a Toyota Vios but this led to them colliding with the rear right side of the vehicle and being thrown into the opposite lane.
Hit by oncoming car
At the same time, a Perodua Alza, which was travelling from the opposite direction, couldn’t avoid the victims in time and hit them.
The students were pronounced dead at the scene, while both the Vios and Alza drivers were unhurt, reported The Vibes.

Mohd Nasyim said initial investigations showed that the crash stemmed from the rider’s failure to maintain control of the motorcycle during the overtaking manoeuvre.
The bodies were taken to the Forensic Unit of Temerloh Hospital for post-mortem examinations and police are probing the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
