In a significant collaboration between Statista and Newsweek, Malaysia has been named in the World’s Best Hospitals 2024 ranking, showcasing its healthcare excellence alongside Singapore and Thailand.
This annual review, initiated in March 2019, assessed a total of 2,400 hospitals from 30 countries, with countries like Malaysia and Chile making their debut into the list.

The two hospitals that were named in the list were Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur and Sunway Medical Centre in Petaling Jaya, ranking at 223rd and 233rd respectively.
As for its ASEAN neighbours, the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) came in at 11th place while Thailand’s Bumrungrad International Hospital in Bangkok was ranked at 130th place.
These rankings not only spotlight Malaysia’s healthcare advancements but also align it with its Southeast Asian neighbors, Singapore and Thailand, emphasizing the region’s global healthcare prominence.
According to the ranking, the 250 hospitals were given a score based on an online survey of more than 85,000 medical experts and public data from post-hospitalization patient surveys on their general satisfaction.
Several other metrics are also taken into account, such as hygiene and patient/doctor ratio as well as a Statista survey on whether hospitals use Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs), which are standardized questionnaires completed by patients to assess their experience and results.
