A total of two Malaysian Armed Forces helicopters were seen on camera crashing into each other before descending to the ground in a horrific manner.
The Star reported that the mid-air collision took place at the Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM) stadium while the aircraft were flying over the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) base in Lumut, Perak this morning (Apr 23).
2 helicopters crash into each other, 10 dead
In a clip shared widely on X (formerly Twitter), it showed the helicopters taking to the sky before one of them clipped the rotor of the other aircraft before the two crashed into the ground.
It is understood that the two helicopters, a Fennec M502-6, and a HOM M503-3, were part of a formation training in conjunction with the Fleet Open Day scheduled to take place from May 3-5.
The HOM crashed on the stairs at the TLDM stadium while the Fennec helicopter crashed into the swimming pool in the sports complex.
BuletinTV3 later reported that at least 10 people have died from the crash.
