Unfortunately for a father in Kelantan, his carelessness led to the death of his young son who was hit by the car that he himself was driving.

In a report by Harian Metro, the tragic incident took place at the man’s home located in Kampung Wakaf Kubor, Kampung Raja in Jertih.
Speaking to the Malay daily, Besut police chief Supt Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the incident took place at around 9.30am yesterday (May 29), where the man had finished washing his car in the house compound and began reversing it.
However, he failed to notice that his 1-year-old son, who was playing with a handphone at the stairs, had moved right towards the car’s direction and was hit as a result.
“Following the accident, the father immediately rushed his son to the Gong Medang Health Clinic but the child was pronounced dead at 10.30am.
“The case is currently being probed under Section 31 (1) of the Child Act 2001 and Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said.
Abdul Rozak also called upon parents with young children to practice greater care and caution when driving within their house compound and not to leave their children unattended outside the house in order to prevent similar tragedies from happening.
Our condolences to the family for their loss and we hope other parents will learn from this and keep a tighter eye on their children.
