A 19-year-old night market trader was killed in a road accident while he was making his way to the ‘RXZ Members 8.0’ gathering which will be held for two days starting today in Kuala Nerus, Terengganu.
For the uninitiated, the gathering is where motorcycle enthusiasts across the country will gather to participate in a host of motorcycle-related activities.

According to NST, ‘RXZ Members 8.0’ is expected to attract more than 100,000 participants.
Killed en route to event
Sinar Harian reported that the victim, Muhammad Zulhairi Azhar Mohd Shahrizan, a Klang native, was riding a Yamaha LC135 motorcycle along the East Coast Expressway (LPT) as part of a convoy of five riders last night (July 30).
Temerloh district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Nasyim Bahron said when the victim reached KM112.3 of the LPT, he was believed to have lost control of his motorcycle, causing it to skid before he fell onto the left lane and thrown into the right lane.

“At the same time, a Perodua Myvi travelling in the right lane was unable to avoid the victim and struck him, causing him to be flung onto the left lane. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.”
Had no licence
Mohd Nasyim said further investigations found that the victim did not possess a valid driving licence
He added preliminary investigations indicate the accident was caused by the victim’s negligence in failing to maintain control of the motorcycle.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
