A young man was served a dose of swift justice at the hands of members of the public after he was caught filming a woman inside a toilet in Miri, Sarawak.
According to Harian Metro, the incident took place at an eatery last Saturday (June 20), where the victim realised she was being secretly filmed and alerted those at the scene.
Several individuals then sprung into action and apprehended the man before handing him over to police at the Bekenu Police Station.
Had no criminal record
Meanwhile, Miri district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the 19-year-old suspect was arrested at 11.30am on the same day, less than two hours after a police report was made.
He added the case drew widespread attention after photos and a video showing the suspect being detained by members of the public went viral on Facebook.
A mobile phone believed to have been used by the suspect to film the woman was also seized.
Mohd Farhan said the suspect, who works as a lorry attendant, had no prior criminal record and is now being probed under Section 377D of the Penal Code for outraging the woman’s modesty.
