An 18-year-old, Mohamad Nur Asymawi Jasmadi, tragically lost his life after suffering an electric shock while charging his mobile phone on an express bus headed to Kuala Lumpur.
The incident occurred on November 1, at around 7.40 pm, at the Penang Sentral bus terminal.
Harian Metro reported that, according to Seberang Perai Utara District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Anuar Abd Rahman, passengers on the bus alerted the 36-year-old driver after noticing unusual behavior from the victim.
The driver informed the authorities, reporting that the teenager had screamed shortly after boarding and was later found with foam around his mouth.
“Upon examining the scene, burn marks were found on the victim’s left finger, likely from an electric shock. The mobile phone cable had melted at one end, and the device itself was hot.” Anuar explained.
An ambulance was called, but medical responders confirmed the young man had already passed away.
Autopsy Confirms Cause of Death
The autopsy performed at Seberang Jaya Hospital concluded that the teenager’s death was due to an electric shock, with no other injuries discovered.
Based on these findings, the case has been classified as a sudden death.
