In a heart-wrenching incident that underscores the dangers of road travel, a 16-year-old boy lost his life in a collision involving his motorcycle and a Perodua Myvi at the Pantai Batu Hitam junction, Jalan Beserah, late last night (7 Jul).
The accident, which occurred around 12:15 AM, saw Shariff Danish Mazlan heading from Pantai Batu Hitam towards Jalan Beserah.
According to Kosmo!, Kuantan District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Wan Mohd. Zahari Wan Busu, reported that the Perodua Myvi was making a right turn from the opposite direction when the collision happened.
“As the driver of the car was executing a right turn into the junction, Shariff’s Yamaha 135 LC motorcycle suddenly crashed into the front of the vehicle,” stated Wan Mohd. Zahari.
Shariff sustained serious injuries from the impact, while the car driver was unharmed.
He was immediately taken to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) in Kuantan for emergency treatment.
Despite the best efforts of medical staff, Shariff, who was from Kota Bharu, Kelantan, was declared dead at 1:45 AM while receiving treatment at HTAA.
The case is currently under investigation in accordance with Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
