15yo M’sian Girl, Whose Dad Is In Prison, Earns RM80 Per Week By Washing Cars To Support Family

All for the family.
While most 15-year-olds would focus on their studies and hang out with their peers, one girl in Kelantan was forced to take up the role of a breadwinner due to circumstances.

This comes after her father was imprisoned for criminal charges, which has left the family in a financial lurch.

According to social activist Abbe Hae, he wrote in a Facebook post that the girl and her siblings have not been attending school as it was too far from their home and beyond the family’s financial means.

To further add on their troubles, the children’s mother hasn’t been able to pay rent for the past four months, leaving the landlord with no other choice but to evict the family and rent the unit to someone else.

In light of these events, the 15-year-old took it upon herself to support the family by washing cars, where she earns RM80 a week.

She then uses the money to buy rice and food for her mother and siblings.

Moved by family’s hardships

Abbe wrote that although he himself was financially strapped due to bearing the monthly expenses of underprivileged families, he was saddened by the girl’s plight and decided to help.

Together with his team, Abbe went scouting for an alternative place for the girl’s family to live and managed to find one which was located near the children’s school.

They’re expected to move into the rented unit today and the girl can once again attend school without having to worry whether she and her family will have a roof over their heads.
