A teenage girl in Sabah lost her life after a bullet was fired while she was using her father’s pistol, leading her to get killed.

According to the New Straits Times (NST), the incident took place at the girl’s home in Taman Tabanak, Lahad Datu, today (Apr 16).
It was later learned that her father was Lahad Datu police chief Assistant Commissioner Dzulbaharin Ismail, who wasn’t at home as he was at his office at the district police headquarters.
His daughter is believed to have used the pistol he left at home and shot herself with it by mistake. Her body was found inside a room at the house at 12.42pm.

The tragedy was confirmed by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain when contacted by the English daily and said investigations are currently underway.
“The public is advised not to speculate on any matters,” he added.
