A Form 1 student was tragically killed, while another girl was left severely injured after both of them were hit by a car driven by a teacher.
According to Berita Harian, the incident took place within the compound of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tanjong Mas near Pengkalan Chepa in Kelantan at 1.50pm yesterday (Apr 12).
Allegedly stepped on gas pedal
In a statement by Kota Bharu district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azmir Damiri, he said initial investigations found that a female teacher was driving a car within the school at the time.

The teacher then allegedly stepped on the gas pedal by accident, causing the car to surge forward and hit the victim along with her friend, who were putting on their shoes in front of the female surau before the car crashed into a pillar.
The victim, Nur Fatimatul Hawa Mohd Azaudin, died at the scene due to severe head injuries, while her friend was rushed to the Red Zone at Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II (HRPZII) for treatment.
Family devastated
Speaking to reporters, the victim’s father, Mohd Azaudin Abdullah, said he was at work at the time when he was contacted by his brother-in-law.

He was crying on the phone and urged me to go to my daughter’s school immediately. When I rushed to the scene and saw that she had died, I was very shocked and stunned.”
Mohd Azaudin added that all of his children, including the victim, had lived with his brother-in-law since his wife passed away five years ago.
Meanwhile, the victim’s aunt, Zuraifah Noor, said the family doesn’t plan on taking further action against the teacher as they don’t want to interfere with ongoing investigations.

She also said that while she’s ready to forgive the teacher, the same can’t be said for other family members and urged the school’s teachers to give them space to grieve.
Teacher arrested
As for the teacher, she was arrested and brought to court today (Apr 13) after police applied for a remand order, reported Sinar Harian.
She has since been remanded for two days to aid investigations under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Nur Fatimatul was laid to rest at the Tanjong Mas Islamic Cemetery after a post-mortem was completed.
