13yo M’sian Boy Collapses After Eating Biscuit Laced With Poison

He's currently being treated at the Kemaman Hospital.
In yet another case of individuals getting hospitalised after unwittingly consuming food mixed with poison, a teenager is now undergoing treatment after he accidentally ate a biscuit which had poison in it.

According to a report by Harian Metro, the victim was 13-year-old Mohd Daynail Haikal Alias, who fainted after eating the biscuit at around 1.45pm on Saturday (Jul 13).

The Malay daily also stated that the unfortunate incident took place at a banana plantation in Kampung Dadong, Chukai, Terengganu.

After fainting to the ground upon consuming the biscuit, Mohd Daynail was rushed to Air Puteh Health Clinic before he was transferred to Kemaman Hospital for further treatment.

Speaking to Harian Metro, the teen’s father, Alias ​​Saras, said he was alerted of the matter concerning his son, who’s the fourth child out of five siblings, by his wife.

“My wife informed me that my son had fainted after eating the poisoned food. Fortunately, his friend’s father took him to the clinic and my son is currently in the hospital.

“I hope he recovers quickly and be discharged from the hospital soon,” he said.

Was on a fishing trip with friend

Alias also revealed that Mohd Daynail was on a fishing trip with his friend prior to the unfortunate incident and believed he may have gotten his hands on the biscuit from a banana and coconut plantation located about 3km from their home.

“Perhaps the biscuit was hung on a pole to chase monkeys away from the plantation,” he added.

Meanwhile, Kemaman district police chief Supt Hanyan Ramlan confirmed that a report was lodged at 4pm yesterday (Jul 14) and that the case is being probed under  Section 31(1) of the Children Act 2001 for child neglect.

Similar incident occurred last week

This incident comes at the heels of a similar case which occurred last week in Kedah, where two brothers fell sick after eating snacks laced with poison.

Sadly, Muhammad Akil Syauqi Abdul Rahman, 3, died on July 10, while his younger brother Muhammad Luth, 2, followed suit days later.
