Rescuers are racing against time to locate and save a 10-year-old boy who is feared to have drowned after falling into a drain and being swept away by strong currents in Bandar Puncak Alam.
NST reported that Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said a distress call was made at 7.47pm yesterday (Apr 28) regarding the incident.

Following the distress call, a team from the Bestari Jaya Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the scene and were informed by members of the public that the boy had fallen into the drain at around 3.30pm.
Search for victim ongoing
Meanwhile, the Saujana Utama Volunteer Fire Brigade Team said in a Facebook post that initial search efforts were conducted in nearby drains until late at night while it was raining.

They were assisted by the Water Rescue Team (PPDA) from the Fire and Rescue Department.
The search was conducted until 4am before it was temporarily halted at 4.30am. It is expected to resume today.
