A Standard 4 male student is currently fighting for survival after he allegedly choked on an ‘eyeball candy’ he had bought outside his school at Butterworth, Penang on Tuesday (Feb 18).
According to Berita Harian, the boy, identified as Mohamad Fahmi Hafiz Mohamad Fakhruddin, reportedly lost consciousness before his Al-Quran and Fardhu ‘Ain (KAFA) class at about 2.30pm.

Speaking briefly to NST about the incident, the boy’s aunt, Siti Farhani Mohamad Fikri, said her nephew still remains in a critical condition and yet to have regained consciousness in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Penang Hospital.

He is currently entirely dependent on oxygen. I appeal to everyone to pray for a miracle for my nephew so that he can recover,” she said.
Earlier, Siti Farhani had taken to Facebook to share about the incident, where she revealed Fahmi had purchased an eyeball-shaped gummy from a stall outside his school before he collapsed.
She also told NST that when the family received Fahmi’s clothes at the hospital, they discovered another ‘eyeball candy’ in his pocket, raising alarm about the potential hazard such candies posed.

“The most important thing now is my nephew’s recovery. We can only place our trust in Allah and the doctors who are caring for him,” she added.
We hope Fahmi will be awake soon and recover fully from this harrowing incident.
