Given the unpredictable weather conditions that Malaysia is currently going through, reptiles are bound to make their way into homes uninvited.
A family in Taiping, Perak, had a shock of their lives upon seeing a massive python make an unexpected appearance in the form of it landing on the sofa in the living room after the ceiling gave way.
10-foot python lands on sofa after ceiling collapses
A clip of the python measuring 10-foot long was shared to the Facebook group Taiping Bandar Warisan Perak, where it showed the reptile slithering on the sofa as firefighters deliberated over how to capture it.
From the clip, a sizable hole in the ceiling can be seen, which was caused by the python crashing right though it after it collapsed.
A child could also be heard screaming in terror at the sight of the humongous reptile.
Captured by APM personnel
In a Facebook post shared by the Civil Defense Force (APM) Taiping, it wrote that it received a call regarding the incident and deployed a total of seven personnel to the house located at Jalan Ayer Puteh Kg Dew in Kamunting.
However, capturing the python proved to be difficult as it managed to escape to the bathroom before APM personnel finally managed to trap it inside a metal cage.
According to APM, they suspect that the python had slipped its way into the house from a nearby oil palm plantation. However, it’s not known how long the python hid itself within the ceiling before it gave way.
The python is expected to be released back into the wild following its capture.
