The owner of Rocky, the dog that was allegedly beaten to death in Klang, reportedly pleaded with the individuals involved for about 30 minutes to release her pet.
She was also allegedly struck on the hand while attempting to free Rocky from the dog catching pole used to restrain him.
Speaking exclusively to WeirdKaya, the OP who first shared Rocky’s case on Instagram said she was acting as a voice for Rocky’s owner and helping the family seek justice for the dog.
She added that she has been guiding the owner through the process of lodging reports with the police and the Department of Veterinary Services, as well as preserving Rocky’s body as evidence for further investigation.
Rocky had reportedly escaped from the house
According to the OP, Rocky had accidentally left the house while his owner was out picking up her daughter on July 29.
The dog was reportedly sleeping on a neighbour’s porch when a group of individuals arrived in the area looking for him.
Rocky allegedly ran further into the porch after noticing the group.
The individuals then allegedly opened the neighbour’s gate, entered the property and struck Rocky with an iron rod before restraining him using a dog catching pole.
He was then allegedly dragged out of the porch as a large crowd gathered nearby.
Owner returned to find Rocky restrained
The OP said Rocky’s owner returned home and saw a large crowd gathered outside her house.
By then, Rocky had reportedly already been restrained and was crying out in pain.
The owner allegedly asked the group to release her dog, but they refused and told her that they intended to kill him.
When she questioned why they were doing so, the individuals allegedly claimed that Rocky had bitten a child. However, the OP said the owner was not shown any report or evidence concerning the alleged bite.
The owner reportedly told the group that any complaint involving her dog should have been handled by the relevant authorities instead of members of the public.
According to the OP, two local council personnel arrived near the end of the incident.
When questioned about whether an official complaint had been lodged, they allegedly said the council did not have enough staff and had therefore sought help from people in the village.
However, the OP claimed that the personnel were unable to produce or show the owner any report relating to the alleged complaint against Rocky.
Owner allegedly hit while trying to save Rocky
According to the OP, Rocky’s owner spent about 30 minutes pleading with the group to release him.
She also allegedly attempted to cut the wire used to restrain Rocky but was unable to do so.
One of the individuals then allegedly struck her hand with an iron rod when she tried to free the dog.
The OP claimed that about 50 to 60 people were present at the scene, but no one stepped forward to help Rocky’s owner.
The restraint was eventually released, but Rocky had already died by then.
Group allegedly wanted to catch dogs in the area
The OP claimed that the incident may have been linked to an earlier case involving another dog that had allegedly chased a motorcyclist several weeks ago.
According to information shared with her, some individuals had allegedly begun looking for roaming dogs in the neighbourhood following the incident.
However, the OP stressed that Rocky was not the dog allegedly involved in the earlier incident.
These claims have not been independently verified at the time of writing.
Rocky’s body handed over for post-mortem
After learning about the incident, the OP contacted Rocky’s owner and advised her to lodge a second police report and the first report did not contain enough information about what allegedly happened.
A report was also lodged with the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS).
According to the OP, the department told her that it had received more than 1,000 reports concerning Rocky’s case within one night.
She later accompanied Rocky’s owner to the department and handed over Rocky’s body, along with videos and photographs related to the incident.
Rocky’s body was taken for a post mortem examination as part of the investigation, with the OP saying they had yet to receive any further updates from the police.
Family reportedly fears for its safety
The OP said Rocky’s owner has five children and that the family is now afraid to leave the house.
She claimed that several motorcyclists had revved their engines outside the family’s home the following morning, leaving the children frightened.
According to the OP, many people had also contacted the owner and asked to visit her home following the incident.
She said the family should be given time to process what happened and hoped the relevant authorities would investigate the alleged killing, protect the family and take action if any laws were broken.
