The technological era has given every person the chance to become the next Internet star on YouTube whenever their content goes viral. Among them are those who centre their content around pulling pranks on their friends, with notable examples such as Logan Paul and Roman Atwood.
With so many YouTubers uploading prank videos everyday, there is bound to be one who would step over the mark and put themselves or others in danger.
Yesterday, Malaysian YouTuber “Insect Ang” appealed to the public to help locate his friend Jason Ching who went missing in the forest during a video shoot.
According to Ang, Jason was separated from the team when he decided to answer Nature’s call at a nearby spot. He also claimed that the team was unaware of his absence and continued the journey without him.
After the team realized that Jason wasn’t with them, they began searching for him frantically but to no avail. Ang later uploaded another video pleading with netizens to help track Jason down.
However, many netizens were skeptical of Ang’s story and believed it was just another stunt to increase his viewership.
“Let’s wait until April 1 and he [Jason] will appear .”
“There are so many holes in his story. Jason went missing yesterday, but he [Ang] finished editing the second video today. If you’re part of the reason for your friend’s disappearance, wouldn’t you continue looking for him instead of producing another video?”
“Happy April Fools Day! He went to lodge a police report but doesn’t have the actual paper in his hands.”
Ang later posted an Instagram story on his profile, explaining why he was willing to do such videos even though it was dangerous.
“I’m ready to sacrifice it all, including my own life, for the sake of art even though many told me that it would be suicidal. If there’s a day where I don’t return from one of my adventures, please don’t miss me.”
