A Malaysian man who recently passed a cabin crew assessment shared that he felt uncomfortable and insecure after receiving an unsolicited direct message from another applicant prompting strong reactions from netizens.
In a post shared on social media, the man said he was unsure how to respond to the message, which arrived early in the morning and left him feeling judged.
Then what am I supposed to reply? It’s still early in the morning. I’m insecure too. But I guess I’ll just consider it rezeki. Still feels a bit down being condemned like this,” he wrote.
“My skin is more flawless than yours, but I didn’t pass”
Screenshots shared by the man showed the sender initially asking how he managed to pass the cabin crew assessment and interview.

“Hi bro, sorry to disturb you. Just wanted to ask if you passed all the cabin crew assessments and interview?” the sender wrote.
The message then took a more personal turn.
“Sorry if this offended you, but I’m wondering how you managed to pass,” the sender continued, explaining that he himself was “stuck at the grooming session”.
He then compared their appearances, saying:
I wouldn’t say you’re good-looking compared to me. My skin is better and more flawless than yours.”
The sender added that he was also “good-looking” and questioned how the man progressed while he did not.
The issue isn’t looks, it’s attitude
The post quickly sparked discussion online, with many netizens pointing out that cabin crew assessments go far beyond physical appearance.

“Grooming isn’t about how good-looking you are. It’s about how you present yourself even the way you walk is assessed,” one netizen commented.
Others highlighted that interviews are continuous throughout the entire process, not limited to a single stage.
“You could be a model and still fail if you don’t fit the image or standards they’re looking for,” another wrote.
Several netizens also felt that the sender’s tone and mindset may have contributed to his outcome.
“From the message alone, you can already tell why he didn’t get through,” one comment read.
Some suggested savage replies, others said don’t reply at all
While a few netizens suggested responding politely and professionally, many felt no reply was necessary.
Others offered blunt or sarcastic responses, including:
- “From your message, I now understand why they chose me over you.”
- “Being bitter isn’t one of the job requirements.”
- “Flawless skin doesn’t mean flawless communication or interpersonal skills.”
Some also pointed out the irony of starting with “sorry if this offended you” before making a clearly offensive comparison.
As one netizen summed it up: “What’s the point of beauty without a good attitude?”
