A soldier’s parachuting exercise turned into an unexpected rooftop landing, but it wasn’t the damage to the roof that caught attention—it was the homeowner’s heartwarming response.
Sharing his story on TikTok via the account 4remark, the soldier recounted his 2022 experience during a parachuting drill in Taiping.
Forced to land on rooftop
Due to unforeseen circumstances, he was unable to land at the designated spot, leading to a forced landing on a residential rooftop.
I was thinking that if I couldn’t land properly, I might die or suffer serious injuries,” he said, recalling the tense moments before the landing.
Fortunately, he landed on the roof with his feet breaking through it, but he emerged unscathed.
My legs went through the roof, and I realized I had a minor incident,” he added.

Homeowner showed remarkable generosity
Hearing the crash and an activated alarm, the homeowner quickly came outside to check on the soldier’s condition.
“The first thing they asked was if I was okay,” the soldier shared, adding that he was touched by their kindness.
He packed up his parachute and, with the help of the homeowner and neighbors, safely climbed down from the roof.
The homeowner showed remarkable generosity, choosing not to demand compensation for the damaged roof.
They said life is more important, and it’s fine as long as I was safe,” the soldier revealed.
Netizens’ reaction
The TikTok video has since gone viral, drawing widespread support from netizens who expressed relief that the soldier escaped unharmed.
“The homeowner will be talking about this for seven generations—‘Back in the day, a commando landed on my house roof.’”

“This feels like Crash Landing on You.”

A netizen raised the question of who will be obligated to bear the cost of the damages.
“Excuse me, in situations like this, who bears the cost of the damages? Is it the homeowner or the military? Because I read that the roof was damaged.”
“The team will cover it, either the police or the military. But in this case, the homeowner didn’t want any compensation. The homeowner is very kind. By the way, the homeowner is Chinese.” The creator replied.
