On June 9, a horrific bus accident occurred along the East-West Highway when a bus carrying Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) students lost control and collided with a Perodua Alza, leading to 15 lives being lost.
More than a week after the tragedy, a group of road workers have since got to work in fixing the road where the accident took place.

Workers praised for fixing road in the rain
In a TikTok video shared by @dekmat_affifi, it showed several workers repairing the stretch of road where the crash occurred while wearing raincoats.
While some of them focused on patching the surface of the road, others placed cones and helped to direct traffic as there was a heavy downpour.

Online users praised the team for not letting the rain stop their work and thanked them for acting quickly, saying it could help prevent similar accidents in the future.
‘Very thankful. Ever since the Perak Public Works Department (JKR) was established on the 2nd day of Aidiladha, they’ve really been working hard. Day and night, rain or shine, they still get the job done. Good job.’

‘Everything that happened has its reason; at least the responsible parties are learning from it and making improvements. That’s okay.’

‘Alhamdulilah, the voice of the people is being heard. For years under the previous government, nothing like this ever happened.’
