A woman in Vietnam has reportedly asked for a divorce after discovering that her husband transferred a large sum of money to his family without her knowledge.
The amount involved was about 500 million VND, which is approximately RM96,000. The incident was reported to have taken place in Hanoi.
According to mStar, tension in the marriage began when their child entered Year One.
The woman suggested buying a car to make daily routines easier, especially with school and family commitments. However, her husband rejected the idea, saying there was no real need for a car.
While she accepted his reasoning at the time, she later stumbled upon something that changed everything.
Receipt found in child’s textbook
The situation escalated when she discovered a receipt for a money transfer tucked inside their child’s textbook.
The receipt showed that her husband had transferred around 500 million VND to his father’s bank account.
When confronted, the husband admitted that the money was sent back to his hometown to renovate the family house ahead of his younger brother’s wedding.
This was not the first time he had financially supported his family.
Previously, he had also covered his younger brother’s living expenses and education costs, believing it was his duty as the eldest son.
He reportedly stood firm on his decision, insisting that helping his family was his responsibility.
‘I can no longer live under their shadow’
Feeling overwhelmed and sidelined in major financial decisions, the woman reportedly knelt in front of her husband and asked for a divorce, saying she could no longer live under the shadow of her in laws.
She also expressed concern that the financial support to his family would continue in the future.
