A foreign woman was left feeling disgusted after she spotted a cockroach crawling over a loaf of bread at a bakery located within a popular convenience store chain in Bangsar.
To make matters worse, she claimed that the contaminated bread was still on display even after the cockroach was caught and disposed of by staff.
Woman finds roach crawling over bread
In a Facebook post shared by a woman named Wendy Kendall, she wrote that she headed to the bakery to buy a loaf of bread.
To her horror, she saw a cockroach โstrolling over and around the bread.โ

Wendy wrote she immediately alerted two girls at the counter about the discovery, but none of them had a clue of what she was talking about, causing her to ask a male staff for help instead.
โHe went to catch it, but thatโs it. I went to the floor manager who said heโd deal with it and later, I went back to check, only to find everything as it was, admittedly with no cockroach.โ
Contaminated bread still on display
Worried that someone might purchase the bread that had been tainted by the cockroach, Wendy called for the bakery supervisor, hoping that the bread would be removed. However, that wasnโt the case at all.

I went back to the floor manager who was nowhere near the bakery and had done nothing, and was surprised when I was angry. THEY WERE GOING TO LEAVE THE BAKED GOODS THERE.โ
Calling the incident โutterly, absolutely disgracefulโ, Wendy also claimed that the grocery store tried sweeping the matter under the rug by deleting her tagging of the store in the post twice.
Grocery store issues apology
Following the incident, the grocery store took to its Facebook page yesterday (Jan 16) to apologise and outline the course of action taken.
โUpon learning of the incident, our Bangsar bakery has been closed for business with immediate effect.
โAll bakery products on display have been disposed of and a comprehensive pest control and deep cleaning process is underway, encompassing all areas of the bakery, including equipment and display units.โ
It also said the bakery will remain closed until its internal audit team carries out a thorough inspection and confirm that everythingโs in order to ensure the highest standards of hygiene and safety.
โWe value your trust and apologize for any inconvenience this incident may have caused. We are committed to upholding the highest standards of food safety and hygiene at all times.โ
