There has been plenty of discussion and arguments over the newly implemented RM10K fine on those who fail to abide by the SOPs among netizens and politicians alike.
Today, a netizen named Lynn Hee shared her story of being issued a summon by the police, but here’s the twist – she wasn’t the offender in this case.

“I’m just a worker in this restaurant and was fined RM10K because one of the customers did not scan the MySejathera QR code before entering.”
According to Lynn, she and the customer were hauled to the police station and had to stay there while the report was being filed. She also had to endure a long-winded lecture by the officer before receiving the summon and allowed to go home at 2am.

She also wrote how the police refused to listen to her plea for a lesser fine and emphasised that they were following orders.
“To those who aren’t willing to follow the SOPs, stay at home. Please don’t come out and bring trouble to us.”
“Starting tomorrow, we will be checking everyone’s phone before allowing them to enter. Please don’t blame us for being extra cautious.”
Lynn’s post sparked a fierce debate at the comment session, with some remarking how hard it was to work in the service sector as customers would become annoyed or rude when staff members try to enforce the SOPs.

One said that Lynn would have to take multiple jobs to pay off the fine.

Another took a swipe at the government, commending them for their ability in demanding back the money they gave to citizens as monetary aid in one swoop.
