Travelling isn’t just about exploring new places, it’s also about seeing how other countries do things differently, sometimes for the better.
For one Filipino woman, her trip to Malaysia turned into an eye-opening reality check about just how far behind her home country is when it comes to public transportation.
In a video that has since gone viral, she couldn’t contain her amazement (and a little frustration) over how smooth, efficient, and convenient Malaysia’s public transport system is.
From the LRT and MRT to the well-planned roads and traffic flow, everything just… worked.
“And that’s when it hit me…”
At first, she was simply enjoying the ease of getting around; no long, sweaty waits, no confusion, and no unnecessary stress.

But as she rode the trains and experienced how well-organised the system was, a sobering thought hit her:
And you will realise that the Philippines is far behind,” she admitted.
It wasn’t just about the modern trains or organised routes, it was about how a proper transport system could make life easier.
No daily battles with traffic. No overcrowded, unreliable transport. Just a system that worked for the people.
A message to fellow Filipinos
This realisation led her to urge her fellow Filipinos to think harder about their choices when voting.

She emphasised that an efficient transport system isn’t a luxury, it’s something every country should have.
In the caption, she summed up her feelings in just three words: “Sad but true.”
Many Filipinos agree
Her words struck a nerve. The comment section was flooded with fellow Filipinos echoing her thoughts, sharing their own frustrations, and wishing for real change.
One commenter, a Filipino currently living in Malaysia, chimed in with her own experience.
She couldn’t help but compare the smooth and convenient public transport in Malaysia to the struggles back home. She even started questioning:
Why hasn’t our government done something like this? Our people need it so badly.”

Another Filipino user agreed, pointing out how Malaysia’s public transport system is on a completely different level compared to the Philippines.

They urged their fellow countrymen to demand better infrastructure and leadership for a more comfortable and efficient future.
Some commenters blamed poor governance, while others pointed to the deep-rooted political dynasties that have kept the country from moving forward.
Many believe that decades of political power struggles have held back much-needed improvements, especially in public transport.

As more Filipinos travel abroad and see what’s possible, the calls for change are getting louder.
But the real question is, will this frustration turn into action, or will the Philippines stay stuck in the same old cycle?
