Early this morning, tragedy struck at Kuala Lumpur’s Titiwangsa LRT station when a visually impaired man lost his balance and fell onto the tracks, only to be violently struck by an oncoming train.

The fatal incident, which reportedly occurred around 8.30am, has sent shockwaves through the community and disrupted train services at the station.

A chain of unfortunate events

According to China Press, preliminary reports and social media footage show that the man with visual impairment (OKU) appeared to lose his footing while on the station’s platform.

In a devastating turn of events, he tumbled onto the tracks where a train, entering the platform, struck him with such force that his body was tragically crushed into fragments.

Rescue personnel from the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department quickly mobilised after receiving emergency calls.

Eyewitness videos showed large numbers of firefighters, ambulances, and at least two fire trucks stationed outside the station as they worked to secure the scene and assist in the ongoing rescue operation.

Rescue efforts and investigation

A spokesperson for the department confirmed the grim details: “We received reports around 8.33am and immediately dispatched our team to the scene.

Upon arrival, our rescuers confirmed that a Chinese man, who appears to be visually impaired, had fallen onto the tracks and was fatally hit by the train.”

The spokesperson further explained that because the rescue operation is still underway, additional details remain limited.

Rescue teams have been carefully lifting the victim’s remains onto the platform in strict adherence to safety measures and standard operating procedures.

The dismembered remains have been collected and will be sent to a hospital for a thorough autopsy to determine the precise cause of death.

Authorities are now investigating the incident to understand whether the man’s fall resulted from a sudden loss of balance or other factors, with the hope of preventing similar tragedies in the future.
