Viral Maybank Outlet Gets A New Look After Kota Kinabalu City Council Cleans It Up For Better Photos

Kota Kinabalu’s beloved Maybank building, which recently stole the spotlight on social media and became a must-see for tourists, has just received a fresh new look.

DBKK’s Landscape Department led the cleanup efforts, which included removing wild plants that had begun to take over the building’s façade, while carefully preserving its original charm.

In a statement, DBKK emphasized that the cleanup is part of ongoing efforts to maintain Kota Kinabalu’s reputation as a green and livable city.

They also mentioned that similar initiatives are being carried out on other iconic structures in the city, such as buildings along Gaya Street and the lush trees at Sinsuran.

“The removal of wild plants from buildings around the city began on July 12, in conjunction with the Gaya Street cleanup operation organized by DBKK in collaboration with the Api-Api Night Food Market vendors,” the statement read.

The latest operation focused on the Maybank building on Jalan Pantai, which has recently caught the eye of international tourists.

A team of 10 personnel was involved in the cleanup before moving on to trim trees around commercial premises in Sinsuran.

DBKK remains committed to carrying out these cleaning operations across the city, with a particular focus on areas frequented by tourists.
