In the 9-second video, floodwaters are seen turning a vivid, almost alarming red.

As the camera shifts, it’s clear that the red water is mixing with the usual floodwater at that area.

Netizens left curious

As expected, the internet was quick to offer explanations.

Some users joked that it was the “Red Sea” come to life, while others wondered, “What happened to the water?”

Many theories popped up, with some suggesting that it could be due to dye runoff from a batik factory, where excess dye from fabric production might have leaked into the environment.

The mystery was soon cleared up when the OP responded to the theories. It turns out that the red water was the result of food colouring – specifically, from a nearby chili sauce factory.

The industrial discharge of food dye had inadvertently turned the floodwaters red, much to the surprise of everyone.
