PADANG BESAR – A village head was recorded berating two siblings for cutting off their quarantine bracelets and sneaking out to meet their friends.
A man and his sister were ordered to undergo home quarantine from August 23 to September 5 after one of them tested positive for Covid-19.
According to Harian Metro, the incident is believed to have occurred at Kampung Melayu, Perlis.
‘Duduk diam-diam kat rumah!’
To make things worse, the pair left the home to meet their friends despite the quarantine order.
When news of their irresponsible actions reached the ears of village head Reswan Ramli, he rushed to the pair’s home and yelled at them for breaking health protocols.

He later told Harian Metro that he wanted to warn them about the severity of Covid-19 and to not take their health and personal safety lightly.
Time to pay up
Padang Besar District Police Chief, Superintendent Saifudin Aslin Abbas confirmed that the siblings were fined RM8,000.
“The man has to pay RM6,500 for deliberately cutting off the quarantine bracelet, leaving quarantine premises, failing to comply with the SOPs and bringing a friend into his home.
“As for his sister, she was issued a compound of RM1,500 for the same offences,” he said.
