[VIDEO] Indian mop seller shocks everyone with fluent Mandarin & Hokkien

SINGAPORE – There is nothing unusual about a salesman selling a product, but it is amazing if he/she is able to speak a different language like a native speaker would, which was exactly what this Indian salesman did.

In a short clip uploaded by Zeng Li Ren, a young Indian salesman is introducing his mop to the crowd in a market square.

Capturing the crowd

“50 years ago, Indians couldn’t speak Mandarin, but now they can. Society has changed, so it’s time for your mop to change too.”

During his 4-minute presentation, he kept emphasizing one thing, “If you buy my mop, it will open up like a flower, allowing you to sweep and mop the floor at the same time. You don’t have to tell your kids to wait 15 minutes before they can touch the floor again!”

While his casual and humorous presentation clearly had captured the crowd’s attention, what shocked them the most was his ability to say it all in fluent Mandarin and Hokkien, two languages that are usually associated with the Chinese community. This proved to be an effective strategy as customers began to snag the mops immediately!

Clamoring for more

As you can see from the video, the crowd was very impressed with the Indian man’s salesmanship skills and gladly bought his product. The same interest has also extended to those online, with many saying that they want to have one too.

One cheeky netizen wrote, “I wanna buy so [that] I can make it open like a flower.”

Others asked where they could get their hands on the mop.

Some were somewhat ashamed of their ability to speak their native language, admitting that the Indian man “speaks better Mandarin” than they did.

Some even commented that he should go live on the Internet and sell his mop.

As for his fluency in both languages, some pointed out that he is actually half Chinese, thus allowing him to speak it with ease.
