A Vellfire driver and trader who was caught in a viral clip kicking and punching an elderly man following a minor fender bender in Cheras was sent to jail after the Shah Alam High Court overturned his earlier sentence.
This comes after Judge Aslam Zainuddin found that his actions were “unjustified and had serious consequences”, reported NST.
RM5,500 fine made void
Saiful Adli Yusof was accused of causing hurt to 70-year-old Liew Khoon Foo by punching and kicking him in the face and body at 4.05pm along Jalan Cheras–Hulu Langat on Feb 8.

He was also accused of criminal intimidation by threatening to kill Liew at the same time and location.
Previously, the Kajang magistrate’s court fined Saiful RM5,500 after he pleaded guilty, but it was overturned and replaced with a four-month jail sentence.
He was ordered to serve his sentence starting today.
Victim speaks in court
Liew, who was present in court, read out his victim impact statement and said the incident had severely traumatised him and made him fearful of leaving home.
I had no intention of hitting his car. Perhaps my age contributed to the incident, and a police report was lodged over the accident.

“I fear he may hold a grudge and look for me again. I plead for a commensurate sentence,” he said.
As for Saiful, he told the court that he lost his cool after his three-year-old child slipped from his wife’s arms when his white Toyota Vellfire was hit by Liew’s car.
“I sounded the horn but he kept driving, including running a red light. I chased him for about 500m. At the time, I was on my way to look for a breast pump.”
Previously, Saiful’s lawyer told the court that his client didn’t assault Liew immediately but first knocked on the car door.

However, deputy public prosecutor Shahrul Ekhsan Hasim pressed for an appropriate sentence, saying Saiful’s behaviour was “cruel”.
“This country has laws. His actions were those of a road bully, acting recklessly and out of anger. We ask the court to impose a sentence that serves as a lesson.”
Liew’s family had previously cried foul over Saiful’s fine, saying that it was “too light” a sentence:
