A short clip of US President Donald Trump’s motorcade traveling along the Maju Expressway (MEX) has garnered praise from American netizens, many of whom were impressed by the condition of Malaysia’s roads and surroundings.
The video, posted on X by Margo Martin, Trump’s Special Assistant and Communications Advisor, shows the convoy cruising from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) toward the Kuala Lumpur city centre for the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits.

‘Cleaner than US roads!’
Online reactions soon flooded X, with many Americans openly expressing surprise at how clean and well-maintained the highway looked.
‘Why does it look like Malaysia has better roads than we do in the US?’
‘Malaysia is such a beautiful country and patriotic, the Malaysian flag is everywhere!’
‘If he’s headed to Kuala Lumpur from the airport, he’ll pass by lots of palm oil trees — row after row, almost endless.’
Not all reactions were light-hearted. A few Americans compared Malaysia’s infrastructure directly to their own, with one comment saying:
‘This is what you get when you spend money on your nation’s infrastructure and not send it to other countries.‘
