A university student recently got the shock of her life after checking her Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) aid balance, only to discover that there was barely anything left.
She claimed she had never used the aid before, yet the account showed a remaining balance of only RM5.70.
Suspicion grew after reading similar stories
The student shared that she began to suspect something was wrong after seeing many people online talking about how their SARA aid balance had mysteriously decreased even before they spent a single cent.
Wanting to be sure, she checked her account and was stunned to find that what was supposed to be the full amount had nearly vanished.

Old MyKad may have been the reason
After digging deeper, she realised the problem could be linked to her old MyKad, which she lost in Sandakan, Sabah last year.
According to Oh Media, even though she had already replaced it with a new one, the old card could apparently still be used for transactions.
She later lodged a report with the National Registration Department (JPN).
Reportedly, a JPN officer explained that the MyKasih system only detects the physical card that matches the MyKad number, meaning that anyone with the old card could potentially use it.
The officer also revealed that she was not alone. Just in Putrajaya alone, 14 people lodged similar complaints in one day.
Lost within university grounds
What puzzled the student even more was the fact that her old MyKad was lost within the university area itself, not in a public place.
This made her wonder how it could have ended up being used elsewhere without her knowledge.
