Uncle Roger, the Malaysian comedian known for his humorous takes on Asian cooking, has brought his passion for food to life with a growing restaurant business.
Nigel Ng, better known as Uncle Roger, has turned his stand-up comedy success into a culinary venture that has captured public attention.
After opening his first restaurant, FUIYOH! It’s Uncle Roger, at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur on September 11, 2024, the comedian has now launched a second branch at MyTown Shopping Centre, which began operations on December 15, 2024.
Strong Opening at MyTown
Located on Level 1 of MyTown Shopping Centre, the new branch saw a large turnout on its opening day, as captured in a video shared on Instagram.
Customers eagerly lined up to try the menu, which features Uncle Roger’s signature fried rice dishes.
Price Adjustments for Different Crowds
Uncle Roger highlighted a key difference between the two branches: pricing. The MyTown outlet offers a plate of fried rice at RM16, compared to RM18 at Pavilion, and comes with a larger portion.
“MyTown is not Pavilion,” he explained in a TikTok video shared by @bestfoodmy.
“At Pavilion, you have Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Hermès Paris, but at MyTown, you have F.O.S, Focus Point, and Mr. D.I.Y. You can’t charge RM18 here; that’s too expensive.”
He also added, “We’re serving more rice because Malaysians love eating rice.”
Plans for Expansion
FUIYOH! It’s Uncle Roger is set to open additional branches in the near future, although details have yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, it is unclear if the RM16 price at MyTown is permanent or an introductory offer for the new location.
