Uncle Roger’s Restaurant IPC Outlet Closes Down After More Than 1 Year

Fuiyoh no more.
After slightly more than a year in business, Uncle Roger’s at IPC Shopping Centre, which opened to the public in November 2024, has shuttered for good.

However, no official statement was issued regarding the reason behind its closure.

The closure was brought to light in a Facebook post by Malaysia Shopping Mall, where the admin wrote that its “favorite Uncle Roger fried rice restaurant at IPC Shopping Centre is gone” and will be replaced by an eyewear shop.

The admin also joked that they will have to have their fill of fried rice at a hawker centre instead.

For the uninitiated, Uncle Roger’s Restaurant is an establishment founded by Nigel Ng, a local comedian who earned online fame for his humorous critiques of other online celebrities’ attempt at cooking Asian food.

Unfortunately, reviews for his restaurants haven’t been the best since the opening of its first outlet at Pavilion Elite in Bukit Bintang, with many complaining of long queues, expensive prices, and the much-touted “best fried rice” being loaded with MSG and salt.

With the closure of the IPC outlet, five Uncle Roger’s Restaurant outlets remain at Pavilion Elite, MyTOWN Shopping Centre in Cheras, Central i-City Mall Shah Alam, KLIA2, and Mid Valley Southkey, Johor.
