Usually when a fire breaks out, the first thing one would do is to run for the nearest exit or call the firefighters to put the fire out.
An elderly uncle in Singapore showed what it meant to be as “cool as a cucumber” after a viral video showed him showing no signs of panic despite his stall going up in flames at a food court.
Uncle calmly clears stall as fire rages on at food court
In the 13-second video shared on Reddit on Monday (Jan 20), it showed the uncle calmly removing several items from his lor mee stall and placing them on a nearby table.
In the midst of it all, his stall was engulfed by flames but the uncle didn’t seem too bothered by it, nor did he evacuate the food court despite the fire alarm blaring away in the background and someone urging him to leave in Hokkien.

Not surprisingly, netizens were amazed by how ‘chill’ the uncle in the face of his stall going up in flames.

Some joked that the uncle’s lor mee must have been so good that one could call it to be “fire”, an online slang to describe food that’s very delicious.

Others said the uncle was the embodiment of the dog in the popular ‘This is fine‘ meme.

No casualties reported
In response to MS News‘ inquiries about the fire, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was notified of the fire at about 4.55am on Sunday (Jan 19), which involved a stall inside a market at 7 Maxwell Road located at the Amoy Street Food Centre.
A total of six people, including the uncle, evacuated the premises before firefighters arrived and the fire was put out using a water jet.
Thankfully, no casualties were reported and the cause of the fire is now being investigated.
