However, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MET Malaysia) warns that episodes of heavy rain and strong winds may still continue across several states.

Weakened and downgraded

In a media release issued today, MET Malaysia confirmed that Senyar “has weakened and been downgraded to a low-pressure weather system” after crossing inland.

Radar readings showed the storm made landfall around midnight along the coastal stretch bordering Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.

Speaking to the New Straits Times, MET Malaysia director-general Dr Mohd Hisham Mohd Anip said the remnants of Senyar have since moved eastward toward Pahang.

Senyar made landfall at about 1am between Banting and Port Dickson before dissipating as it crossed inland,” he told NST.

“Although it has weakened, the remnant circulation is still capable of bringing periods of rain.”
