Transport Ministry Says MH370 Search Will Resume In Southern Indian Ocean On Dec 30

"The latest development underscores the Government of Malaysia’s commitment to providing closure to the families affected."
The deep-sea search for the missing wreckage of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 will officially resume on December 30 in the Southern Indian Ocean, the Ministry of Transport announced today.

According to Malay Mail, the ministry confirmed that deep-sea exploration firm Ocean Infinity will recommence seabed search operations under a 55-day mission.

The search will be carried out intermittently, in accordance with the operational plan agreed upon by both parties.

Committed to provide closure to affected families

The renewed effort will focus on zones identified as having the highest likelihood of locating the aircraft, based on updated analysis and the terms outlined in the service agreement signed between the Malaysian government and Ocean Infinity on March 25, 2025.

The latest development underscores the Government of Malaysia’s commitment to providing closure to the families affected by this tragedy,” the ministry said.

Flight MH370 disappeared on March 8, 2014, while flying from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to Beijing with 227 passengers and 12 crew members on board.

It remains one of the world’s greatest aviation mysteries.

Only scattered fragments found

Despite what was once the largest search effort in aviation history, covering more than 46,000 square miles of ocean floor, the aircraft has never been found.

Only several scattered fragments—later confirmed to be from MH370—have washed ashore on beaches thousands of miles away from the suspected crash site.

The upcoming mission marks the latest attempt to finally uncover answers that families and investigators have sought for more than a decade.
